Good news

What Is the Gospel?

The Gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ: God created you to be with Him forever, our sins separate us from God, and Jesus paid the price for our sin by dying and rising again.

1

God Created You to Be With Him Forever

To love Him, to glorify Him, and to enjoy Him forever.

A man walking toward God, showing that we were created to love Him, glorify Him, enjoy Him forever, and experience intimacy with God, abundant life, and eternal life.

You Were Created To...

Experience Intimacy With God

“Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God.”

Revelation 21:3

Experience Abundant Life

Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it ABUNDANTLY.”

John 10:10b

Have Eternal Life

“Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.”

John 17:3
Question: Are you experiencing abundant life and intimacy with God? What prevents you from experiencing this kind of relationship with God?

Our Sins Separate Us From God

A Gospel diagram showing a person separated from God by a chasm labeled sin.

Have you ever told a lie? If so, then you’re a liar. Have you looked at a woman or man with lust? If so, the Bible says you have committed adultery in your heart. Have you had sex outside of marriage? If so, the Bible says you are a fornicator. If you’ve stolen anything, you’re a thief.

“In Revelation 21:8 Jesus says, “But cowards who turn away from me, and those who do not believe, and the corrupt, and murderers, and the immoral, and those who practice witchcraft, and idol worshipers, and all liars-- their doom is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur.”

Revelation 21:8

All Have Sinned

“for ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

Romans 3:23

Sin Separates Us From God

“your sins have separated you from God”

Isaiah 59:2
Question: Are you innocent or guilty of committing sins against God?

3

You Cannot Remove Your Sins By Good Deeds

A Gospel diagram showing good works, religion, morality, and philosophy failing to bridge the gap between man and God.

God is holy, and therefore He must punish all sin. We are sinful and separated from Him.

People try to reach God through their own efforts — good works, religion, philosophy, etc. — but they all fall short of God’s holiness and perfection.

“all our good deeds are like filthy rags”

Isaiah 64:6a

We Will All Face Judgment

“And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes JUDGEMENT.”

Hebrews 9:27
Question: If you were to stand before God today at the judgment and He were to ask you, “Why should I let you into My Kingdom?” What would you say?

Jesus Paid the Price for Your Sin By Dying and Rising Again

A Gospel diagram showing Jesus Christ bridging the gap between sinful man and God.

Jesus Died In Your Place

“But God demonstrates His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8

Jesus took the wrath of God for your sin on the cross, then rose from the dead, defeating sin, death, Satan, and Hell.

“Jesus was raised on the third day”

1 Corinthians 15:3-4

The diagram shows that holy God has bridged the gap between Himself and sinful man by sending Jesus Christ to die in our place.

Jesus Is The Only Way To God

Jesus answered, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father EXCEPT THROUGH ME.”

John 14:6
Yet it is not enough just to know these facts...

5

Everyone Who Trusts In Jesus Alone Has Eternal Life

A Gospel diagram showing a person receiving eternal life by trusting in Jesus Christ.

We Deserve Death & Judgment

“If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and BELIEVE in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, YOU WILL BE SAVED.”

Romans 10:9

We Can Receive The Gift of Eternal Life

“Yet to ALL who RECEIVE Jesus, who BELIEVE in His name, He gave them the right to become children of God.”

John 1:12

“For it is by GRACE that you have been saved, THROUGH FAITH and this is not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Ephesians 2:8-9
Question: Will you receive Jesus by faith, trusting in Him alone for salvation?

6

Life With Jesus Starts Now and Lasts Forever

A Gospel diagram showing a person trusting in Jesus alone and crossing from death and judgment toward eternal life.

Trust in Jesus alone. Surrender your life, your sin, and your eternal future to Jesus.

Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and BELIEVES Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed from death to LIFE!”

John 5:24

“And this is the testimony; God has given us eternal life, and the life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who BELIEVE in the name of the Son of God so that you may KNOW that you have ETERNAL LIFE.”

1 John 5:11-13

7

Have You Crossed From Death to Life By Receiving Jesus Into Your Life?

A Gospel diagram showing a person leaving sin and the old life behind and crossing to eternal life through Jesus Christ by faith.

It is not enough to just know these facts about the Good News of Jesus Christ. You must receive Jesus by faith, be born again and surrender your life to Him as Savior and Lord.

“Indeed, God is ready to help you right now. TODAY is the day of salvation.”

2 Corinthians 6:2
Question: Will you receive Jesus Christ today as your Lord and Savior?

If so, you may pray this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I need You. I realize that I am a sinner, that I deserve Your judgement, and can’t save myself. I need Your forgiveness. I believe you are the Son of God and that You died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. I trust You as Savior and Lord of my life. I receive You by faith. I want to be born again. Take control of my life and help me to follow You by living a life of faith and obedience. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
